Diwali flight discounts 2024: As Diwali is closing in lots of exciting offers are also being introduced such as flight prices. It's good news for travel enthusiasts as Domestic flight deals for Diwali have been introduced.
As per the analysis, 20-25% off Diwali flights on domestic routes compared to a year-ago period. The reason behind the 20-25% off on domestic flights is because of the recent drop in oil prices and increased capacity of planes.
Airlines use dynamic price algorithms to raise fares when the demand is high during festive days like Diwali. Diwali is India’s one of the biggest festivals and many people celebrate this day by going on vacations. Thus increase in demand leads to an increase in fare prices after adjusting fares based on the volume of bookings.

ixigo Group CEO Aloke Bajpai told news agency PTI, “Last year, airfares around Diwali had surged due to limited capacity, primarily driven by the suspension of Go First airline. However, this year we’ve seen some relief as additional capacity has been added since then, leading to a 20-25 percent YoY (year-on-year) dip in average airfares across key routes for the last week of October.”
From an APD (advanced purchase date) basis, the prices of fare are for one-way average fare for 30 days. In 2023, the time period was from November 10 to 16 while this year the time period is from October 28 to November 3.
According to the analysis, this year the average flight fare has declined by 38% to Rs 6,319 for the Bengaluru-Kolkata flight against Rs 10,195 last year.
The flight fare of the Chennai-Kolkata route has been reduced by 36% to Rs 5,604 from Rs 8,725 a year ago period.
The ticket price for flights from Mumbai-Delhi has reduced by 34% to Rs 5,762 from Rs 8,788 while the ticket fare on the Delhi-Udaipur route went down by 34% to Rs 7,469 from Rs 11,296.
Furthermore, ticket prices on Delhi-Kolkata, Hyderabad-Delhi, and Delhi-Srinagar routes went down by 32%.
As per Bajpai, the decline in oil prices by 15% this year may be the cause of this reduction in ticket prices.
