Dibrugarh University Ragging: Three hostel wardens suspended for ragging in Dibrugarh University
As per reports, the student had jumped from the second floor of the university hostel to save himself from mental and physical harassment during the ragging. After which he was admitted to a hospital.
In Assam's Dibrugarh University, three hostel wardens have been suspended for ragging a student. Anand Sharma, a student of M.Com 1st semester, was mercilessly assaulted in the university hostel, after which he jumped from the second floor of the hostel to save himself. This incident is of 26 November. The injured student has been admitted to the hospital. His condition is very critical.
Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University Dr. Jiten Hazarika told, 'Three wardens have been suspended. We will appoint three new wardens. Earlier, the police had said that one more accused has been arrested in the case. The accused has been identified as Subhrojyoti Baruah, a third semester student of Political Science. Another student named Newar has also been detained for questioning. Police have registered a case against five people based on the complaint of the victim's parents.
Earlier, Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu had told that a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the Dibrugarh University ragging case. Along with this, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu also condemned the incident. He appealed to the Dibrugarh University authority and the police to take strict action against the culprits. On the other hand, on Monday, the Dibrugarh University authorities expelled 21 students for their alleged role in the ragging of a student. As per reports, the student had jumped from the second floor of the university hostel to save himself from mental and physical harassment during the ragging. After which he was admitted to a hospital.
