Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Oath Taking LIVE: The BJP has appointed Rekha Gupta as the new Chief Minister of Delhi following its landslide victory in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. The announcement came after a party meeting on Wednesday.
Hours before leaving for the grand ceremony at the iconic Ramlila Maidan, Delhi Chief Minister-elect Rekha Gupta took a swipe at Arvind Kejriwal, saying that she will live with the "janta" and not the sprawling 40,000 square yard official bungalow - which the BJP calls 'Sheeshmahal' - that served as the AAP chief's official residence from 2015 until October 2024.
"Bilkul bhi nahi.. I will live with Janta, not in Sheesh Mahal,' the Delhi CM-designate said to Times Now's question on whether she will live at Sheeshmahal.

Rekha Gupta, who is a first-time MLA, has vowed to turn the former official residence of ex-Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to a museum.
For over two years, and especially during the recent Assembly elections, the BJP has persistently targeted Kejriwal over allegations of corruption tied to the bungalow’s reconstruction. The party has accused him of misusing taxpayer funds for extravagant renovations, which reportedly included high-end interiors and luxury fixtures.

Union Minister Amit Shah and BJP leader Smriti Irani have also attacked Kejriwal on the issue, with Shah bringing up the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ controversy in Parliament and Irani slamming the former CM for allegedly spending over ₹40 crore on the bungalow’s revamp.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for today, February 20, at 12.05 pm, an auspicious time. The event will commence at 11.15 am and conclude by 12.25 pm.
In light of the ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, Delhi Traffic Police have issued an advisory for February 20, anticipating a large gathering. Traffic restrictions and diversions will be in effect from 7 am to 4 pm at key routes, including Subhash Park T-point, Raj Ghat, ITO, and Ajmeri Gate.
