DCGI approves for Carbavax for children of 5-12 years and Covavax for children of 6-12 years
DCGI has approved restricted emergency use of Bharat Biotech's Covid-19 vaccine for the age group of 6 to 12 years.
Children of 6-12 years will also be given a dose of corona vaccine. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) gave its approval on Tuesday. According to sources, doses of Bharat Biotech's corona vaccine 'Covaccine' will be given to children. DCGI has approved restricted emergency use of Bharat Biotech's Covid-19 vaccine, Covaccine, for the age group of 6 to 12 years with certain conditions.
DCGI's Subject Expert Committee (SEC) recommended Bharat Biotech's Covaccine for children aged 6 to 12 years in view of rising corona cases in schools. This recommendation was sent to DCGI for final decision. This recommendation was sent to DCGI for final decision. Initially given to adults, the vaccine is currently being given to the age group of 15-18 years.
Bharat Biotech's covaccine for the age group of 18 years was approved in January. After this, from March 16, the dosage of Carbawax was introduced for those above the age of 12 years.
