Congress Demands Lok Sabha Discussion: Deputy Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi on Thursday moved an adjournment motion in the House to discuss the deportation of over 100 Indian nationals by the United States government, that he said, was "carried out under conditions that are deeply distressing and humiliating."
“The expulsion of over 100 Indian citizens, mostly from Punjab, Haryana, and Gujarat, by the US government has occurred under circumstances that are profoundly distressing and degrading. Among those expelled are 25 women, 12 minors, and 79 men. Reports have emerged that these individuals were shackled and subjected to degrading treatment during their deportation, raising significant concerns regarding their human dignity and rights,” stated the motion presented by Congress deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi.
"The government's continued silence in the face of such blatant mistreatment is unacceptable and fails to reflect the values of justice, fairness, and compassion that India stands for," he added.

The absence of a strong response from the Indian Government, particularly from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been met with criticism both within India and internationally.
Gogoi articulated a growing perception of governmental indifference to the rights and dignity of Indian nationals abroad, citing the ongoing silence as incongruent with India's values of justice and compassion.
The controversy follows the arrival of a US Air Force plane in Amritsar, carrying Indian citizens allegedly involved in illegal migration to the US. A US Embassy spokesperson reiterated the enforcement of stringent border laws and advised against illegal migration, reinforcing a firm stance on immigration issues.
Earlier on Tuesday, a US Embassy spokesperson said that while specific details cannot be shared, the United States is vigorously enforcing its border and immigration laws.

The spokesperson emphasised that the actions taken send a "clear message that illegal migration is not worth the risk.
"I have received a number of inquiries on the report of a deportation flight to India. I can't share any details on those inquiries, but I can share, on the record, that the United States is vigorously enforcing its border, tightening immigration laws, and removing illegal migrants.
These actions send a clear message: illegal migration is not worth the risk," a US Embassy spokesperson said.
