CISCE decides on postponing ICSE, ISC in wake of Covid-19 surge

In view of the growing COVID-19 cases, the Council for The Indian School Certificate Examinations declared on Friday that the ICSE and ISC board examinations would be postponed, following CBSE and many other state boards.

The ICSE or Class 10 exam was set to start on May 4th and conclude on June 7th, whereas the ISC or Class 12 exam was set to start on April 8th and conclude on June 18th.

The new postponed dates for the board exams have not yet been announced due to the unpredictable nature of circumstances in reference to the pandemic that has marred the world.

CISCE in statement said, “The Covid situation will be closely monitored and the deferment of the ICSE & ISC 2021 Examinations will be reviewed and a final decision on the conduct of the board examinations will be taken by the 1st week of June 2021.”

The board has given class 10th board students the option of taking or not taking the offline exams. The exams were supposed to start on May 4th of this year. The CISCE, like the CBSE, will now settle on the exam's schedule in the month of June. While the date of the class 12th board exams will be determined later, appearing for the class 10th exams will be optional for students.

For students who do not to wish to take the offline ICSE Class 10th board examination in 2021, CISCE has committed itself in creating "a fair and unbiased criterion."

CBSE's class 10th examinations have been cancelled, and the Class 12th examinations have been postponed until the COVID-19 situation improves. In the wake of the CBSE's announcement, a host of state governments have agreed to postpone or cancel their respective boards' board exams.

The board exams have been postponed due to the unprecedented national Covid-19 surge, which has prompted calls for the government to rethink conducting board exams from students, parents, teachers, politicians, and states around the country.
