CCTV Cameras help South West Delhi Police to nab two snatchers

A team of Special Staff of South West Delhi Police has arrested one active and desperate snatcher namely Suraj Kumar and one receiver namely Ravi With their arrest, one mobile phone of snatching and three mobile phones of theft cases were recovered.

On January 24, 2022, a PCR call regarding snatching was received at police station Sagarpur and on the statement of caller/complainant Ved Prakash, a case of snatching was registered.

Prakash stated that he is working as a tailor and when he was returning from his shop and took off his mobile phone from pocket to call, suddenly one person came from behind and snatched his mobile phone.

“A dedicated team of Special Staff was formed and tasked to work out snatching cases and recover the snatched mobile phones. The Special Staff team started the work actively and analysed the CCTV cameras installed near the place of incident and its vicinity,” Gaurav Sharma, DCP/South West District, New Delhi, said.

He added, ”Thereafter, on the basis of technical surveillance and local intelligence, the team successfully nabbed Suraj and Ravi.”

During their search, a total of four mobile phones of snatching and theft cases have been recovered from their possession. During interrogation, accused Suraj has disclosed that he has snatched the phone and sold it to his friend Ravi.
