Car carrying soldiers falls into Shyok river, 7 soldiers killed
The help of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was also taken to ensure the medical care of the seriously injured. All 26 jawans have been evacuated to 403 Field Hospital in Partapur and surgical teams have also been sent from Leh.
In Ladakh, on Friday, May 27, a vehicle carrying 26 army personnel slipped and fell into the Shyok River, killing seven soldiers and injuring many. The accident happened in Turtuk sector.
An army spokesman has informed that "A team of 26 soldiers was moving from the transit camp of Partapur towards Sub Sector Hanif. The vehicle skidded off the road and fell into Shyok river at around 9 am, about 25 kms from Thoise. (to a depth of about 50-60 feet), due to which all got injured."
Several political leaders including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh took to Twitter to condole the death of the soldiers.
