BMC dismissed media reports on Alia Bhatt violating quarantine rules
The BMC has said that Alia’s travel hasn’t violated any Covid-19 norms as she was not tested positive. It said that since she had tested negative, she doesn’t need to undergo any quarantine.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the civic body of Mumbai has dismissed media reports in which it was said that Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has violated the quarantine rules and travelled to Delhi to do the shooting for her upcoming film with the film crew.
The BMC has said that Alia’s travel hasn’t violated any Covid-19 norms as she was not tested positive. It said that since she had tested negative, she doesn’t need to undergo any quarantine.
The rumour spread as many Bollywood celebrities in the past tried to overlook quarantine norms and come out in public even after they tested positive.
Covid-19 is an infectious disease that spreads from one person to another and any infected person doesn’t serve a mandatory isolation period and comes out to any public area, he or she poses a risk for other people. Hence, it is an offence under the law and there are provisions of criminal action against such a person.
“Alia Bhat test report was negative. She was not suffering from Covid-19 and she was under any travel restriction. She was free to move around. The report was misleading that she broke the quarantine rule,” A BMC official told The National Bulletin.
He added, “There was a lot of social media response against Alia Bhat as the netizens were under impression that she was Covid-19 positive. She doesn’t invite any penal action.”
There were also reports in a section of the media that two well-known Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan and Amrita Arora have also tested positive for Covid-19 after both of them attended a dinner at Karan Johar’s residence.
