Veteran Akali leader Bikram Majithia trapped in drugs case has got a big relief. He has been given protection from arrest by the Supreme Court till February 23. Till then the Punjab government cannot take any action against them. Now Majithia can openly campaign in Punjab.
Veteran Akali leader Bikram Majithia trapped in drugs case has got a big relief. He has been given protection from arrest by the Supreme Court till February 23. Till then the Punjab government cannot take any action against them. Now Majithia can openly campaign in Punjab. This relief has been given in view of the voting in Punjab on February 20.
The next hearing of the case will be on February 23. The Supreme Court has asked Majithia to surrender in the court and file a petition for regular bail. During this, while hearing the matter, the Supreme Court also expressed concern over registering such a case near the elections. This decision of the Supreme Court has dealt a big blow to the Congress in Punjab, which till now was cashing in the case registered against Majithia as a big achievement.
A case of collusion with drug smugglers was registered against Bikram Majithia in Mohali Crime Branch. After this he went to Mohali court for relief. However, there the anticipatory bail application was rejected. After which he reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court. There also he got relief to file nomination, but the anticipatory bail application was rejected.
