New Delhi: A big blow to India’s medal-winning streak in the Tokyo Paralympics, as a Bronze medal won by Vinod Kumar in the F52 category sitting Discus Throw has been canceled. This has been confirmed by Chef de Mission of the Indian contingent, Gursharan Singh. Though, before the events, the players were classified by the International Paralympics Committee (IPC) officials themselves, but during the competition, it was found faulty. A detailed report is awaited.
On Sunday, Vinod created a new Asian record with his personal best throw of 19.91 meters. He started with a throw of 17.46m, Second 18.32m, third 17.80m, fourth 19.12m, fifth 19.91m, and sixth 19.81m. His best throw was 19.91m in the fifth attempt.
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi had congratulated Vinod Kumar for winning the Bronze Medal in men’s Discus Throw at the Paralympics Games in Tokyo. In a tweet, the Prime Minister had said; "India is rejoicing thanks to Vinod Kumar’s stupendous performance! Congratulations to him for the Bronze Medal. His hard work and determination are yielding outstanding results. #Paralympics."
