The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has opposed the decision of the Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee (GEAC) to commercially release GM Mustard. The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh has demanded that the government reject the GEAC's recommendation.
Mohini Mohan Mishra, All India General Secretary, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh said, "We demand that the government immediately reject the decision of GEAC.
He said that the production of GM Mustard will increase the production of mustard or increase the quality of mustard crop, there is no scientific basis or data with GEAC. The scientific review of the impact of GM Mustard on the health of the common people has not been done.
