Ban on bursting firecrackers up to January 1st in Delhi

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee ordered a complete ban on the sale and bursting of crackers in the national capital till 1st January 2022 on Tuesday. Arvind Kejriwal declared a ban on crackers on 15th September saying it was important to save lives.

According to the DPCC order, many experts indicated a possibility of another surge of COVID-19 and largescale celebrations by bursting crackers will result not only in the collection of people in violation of social distancing norms but also a high level of air pollution leading to health issues in Delhi. The bursting of firecrackers under the pandemic is not favorable due to the larger community health given the important relationship between air pollution and respiratory infections.
