Awanish Kumar Awasthi: Awanish Awasthi appointed advisor to CM Yogi, retired in August itself
Avnish Kumar Awasthi, a 1987 batch IAS officer, is one of the officers close to CM Yogi. Even before the retirement of Avnish Kumar Awasthi, it was being speculated that Yogi might entrust him with some important responsibility in the state after retirement. There were also speculations that his service could be extended before retirement, but it did not happen. His tenure lasted from August 01, 2019 to August 31, 2022.
Retired IAS officer Avnish Awasthi has been made advisor to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Former ACS Home Avnish Awasthi's re-appointment order has been issued from the Appointment Department as Advisor to the Chief Minister. Avnish Awasthi will act as an advisor to the Chief Minister to speed up the works of the State Government. Avnish Awasthi is considered to be the trusted IAS officer of Chief Minister Yogi. He will remain in this post till February 23. During this time Awasthi will be treated as a temporary government servant. Avnish Awasthi had retired on August 31 this year.

After the retirement of Avnish Kumar Awasthi, the charge of all his departments including the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEDA) was handed over to the Principal Secretary, Chief Minister and Information Sanjay Prasad. Apart from home, Avnish Awasthi had the responsibility of confidentiality, visa-passport, prison administration and reforms, vigilance department, charitable work department. He is UPDA and UP. State Highways Authority (Upsha) CEO and DG Jail were also there. Not only this, he also had additional charge of the Energy Department.
