People coming through international flights from high risk countries are being tested at Bengaluru airport. A passenger said, "Testing is being done here quickly and accurately. An Omicrom case has come to light in Dharavi area of Mumbai. The patient had returned from Tanzania and is now admitted to SevenHills Hospital. Two of his contacts have also been traced. Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal says that so far 25 cases of Omicron have been registered in our country. Cases of Omicron have been found in 59 countries worldwide. In the country, we have so far administered the first dose of vaccine to 86.2% of the adult population and both doses of the vaccine to 53.5% of the adult population.
NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul says that having an S-gene drop could be a possible indicator of Omicron. There have been only a few cases of Omicron, we are just learning about it. We are verifying Omicron only by doing genome sequencing, that will be our approach.
