The hijab controversy fails to die down as political leaders are divided and making contradictory comments on it.
Asaduddin Owaisi, chief of The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), a political party based in Hyderabad, has recently said in a political rally that India will have a girl who will be wearing a hijab and she will become the Prime Minister of India.
A video that is being circulated on social media has Owaisi saying this. One can hear him in this 40 seconds video saying, “If a girl decides to wear Hijab and asks her parents to do so and when her parents allow her to wear it, who can stop her from wearing it? We will see it, Inshaallah."
His Twitter handle had this video in which he went on and said further that the girls will wear hijab, will wear Niqab and go to colleges and become doctors, collectors, SDMs and businessmen.
"You all keep in mind, perhaps when I am not alive, a girl wearing a hijab will become the Prime Minister of this country one day,” Owaisi can be heard saying this in the video.
The Hijab issue became controversial when a college in Karnataka banned a group of students from attending classes as they were wearing hijab. The matter was widely highlighted in the media and this has divided people and politicians on communal lines. At present, it is sub-judice in the court.
