The number of beds is being increased in almost all the Covid centers of Mumbai. At the same time, private hospitals have started the work of converting non-covid wards into corona wards. A BMC official said that in some hospitals, the number of patients admitted to the ICU has also increased. Among the admitted patients, there has also been information about falling oxygen levels in many people.
In view of the increasing risk of infection in Mumbai, Mayor Kishori Pednekar said that the city is witnessing a steady increase in Omicron cases. If the number of corona patients exceeds 20,000, then a lockdown will be imposed in Mumbai as per the rules of the Center. Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Chahal said that we are constantly monitoring the situation. According to the rules, action will be taken in the coming time.
According to the data till Monday, 12.2% (3,735) of the 30,565 Covid beds under the BMC are admitted. Of the 2,720 ICU beds, 14% are full. At the same time, out of 5,192 Covid beds in private hospitals, 838 (16%) patients are admitted in general beds and 180 (3%) ICU beds. The city has been witnessing a surge in cases since the last two weeks and a surge in severe cases is usually seen from the second or third week.
