More than 720 houses have developed cracks due to landslide in Joshimath. All these houses have been identified. While the affected people are being taken to safer places. Meanwhile, Amit Shah took stock of the current situation and gave instructions for relief and rescue work in the meeting.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting on the current situation in Joshimath, Uttarakhand. Many senior officials including Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, RK Singh, Bhupendra Yadav and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla were present in this meeting. In the meeting chaired by Amit Shah, issues related to roads, power supply, water scarcity and environment in the wake of landslide in Joshimath were discussed. The meeting lasted for about 40 minutes at the home minister's residence.

Experts from National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), Geological Survey of India (GSI), Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG), IIT Roorkee also participated in the meeting to review the prevailing situation. The Home Minister was informed in the meeting that the district administration is working to shift the affected families to safer places with adequate arrangements for food, shelter and security.
Sources said that it also discussed about those projects, which are being said to be the cause of landslides and fissures there. At present, the safety of life there is the most important issue. The state government will get full cooperation from the central government. NDRF and SDRF teams will be increased there to speed up the relief and rescue work as per the requirement. For this, continuous update reports are being taken from the state government.
