Interested participants can publish their original and previously unpublished books in 'short' format (2,000 to 10,000 words) or in 'long' format (more than 10,000 words) as an e-book on KDP.
Entries will be judged on a variety of criteria including originality, creativity, quality of writing, and customer feedback.
The jury for this edition of the competition includes popular authors like Divya Prakash Dubey and Anu Singh Chaudhary for Hindi books, Durjoy Dutta and Anand Neelkanthan for English books, and Charu Nivedita and C. Saravanakartikeyan for Tamil books.
Amol Gurwara, Director Kindle Content - India, Amazon explains that since the launch of KDP, the KDP Pain to Publish Contest grew in popularity, and thousands of authors from across the country participated in the third edition of the competition.
The fourth edition of the competition will continue the celebration of writing arts, bringing authors closer to readers.
He says that a short format of only 2,000 words will inspire most writers waiting to take advantage of self-publishing. "We are eagerly looking forward to new talent with this competition.”
Five finalists will be chosen for each language-format combination, with three winners from each segment. The winning entries in each language for the Long Format category will receive a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh and a print-on-demand contract, including editorial support from Westland Publications.
Each first runner-up will get a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, while each second runner-up will be given a prize of Rs 50,000.
For the short format category, the winners will be awarded Rs 50,000, while the first and second runners-up will be awarded Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. All winners will be provided with marketing support and mentorship sessions to promote their rewarded e-books on Amazon.in.
