Akhilesh will contest from Karhal, not Azamgarh

Akhilesh Yadav will contest from the Karhal seat of Mainpuri. It is considered to be the safest seat of SP. From this seat, the SP has lost only once in the last 6 assembly elections.

After the year 2007, there has been continuous victory. Earlier it was being discussed that Akhilesh will contest from Azamgarh. On this question, he had said that if I contest the election, I will fight only after asking the people of Azamgarh.

SP got more than 45% votes every time from Karhal seat of Mainpuri. In the year 2017, Sobran Singh Yadav contested the elections. He got the highest 49% of the vote. In 2012 also Sobran Singh Yadav was the SP candidate, he got 46% votes then.

In 2007 too, Sobran was the only candidate. Then he got 45% of the votes. In the year 2002, BJP won from Karhal seat. In 1996, the SP won with 44% and in 1993 with 35% votes.
