Air India Express flight from Muscat to Kochi was stopped from taking off on Wednesday. India's Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has said that passengers saw smoke coming out of the aircraft's engine number-2. After this all the passengers were evacuated safely. According to the DGCA, a relief flight has also been arranged for the passengers. DGCA said that the investigation has been started in this matter and appropriate action will be taken regarding the incident.
Air India Express IX-442, VT-AXZ flight had 147 people on board. It consisted of 6 crew members. All are said to be safe. Smoke was seen billowing out of the plane just before the flight at Muscat airport. The cause of the smoke in the plane is being investigated. Passengers were evacuated safely due to smoke coming out just before the flight. A second flight has been arranged to bring the passengers to India.
Earlier on August 25, an Air India flight from Sydney to Delhi had to make an emergency landing in Kolkata. However, this emergency landing was made due to the difficulty in breathing for the 50-year-old passenger. Officials had said that slides were used to evacuate the passengers safely. Passengers exited the aircraft via the emergency slide.
