As soon as the pilot of the aircraft saw the flames, he made an emergency landing of the aircraft in Abu Dhabi. Air India Express has said that the cause of the accident is being investigated.

Earlier on Sunday, an Air India Express flight coming from Sharjah had to make an emergency landing at Cochin International Airport. It was suspected that the hydraulics of the aircraft had stopped working. A full emergency was declared at the airport at 8.40 pm on Sunday and the flight landed safely at 8.26 pm, a spokesperson of the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) said.
