Agneepath scheme betrayed youth's aspirations: Swaraj India
The Agneepath scheme betrays the aspirations of the youth, and puts national security at risk.

Swaraj India supports the students' movement in protest against the Agneepath plan, and calls for a peaceful, non-violent movement against the plan. The Agneepath scheme, launched by the central government, will recruit 45,000 to 50,000 youth — between the ages of 17.5 and 21 — for a period of four years, and grant permanent commission to only one-fourth of the recruits at the end of the term.
The scheme, aimed at reducing the size of the military pension budget and permanent commission, will compromise the efficiency of the armed forces and further exacerbate the problem of unemployment. This will convert the highly specialized Indian Armed Forces into contract work.
Instead of taking concrete measures to address the unemployment crisis that is ravaging the lives of the youth, the Modi government has once again imposed a reckless plan on the country without much deliberation. We demand the government to immediately withdraw this scheme. We urge students to protest without violence or self-harm, and call upon every Indian to support this movement.
Yogendra Yadav from Swaraj India has pointed towards that 'mistake' of the Centre. Instead of taking concrete measures to address the unemployment crisis that is ravaging the lives of the youth, he says, the Modi government has once again imposed a reckless plan on the country without much deliberation.
