After the humiliating defeat to Zimbabwe, Pakistani captain Babar Azam said this about his team
Babar Azam said in the post-match presentation, "Very disappointing performance by my team. We were not good at batting. Our first six overs were bad, but Shadab and Shaan shared a partnership but unfortunately Shadab got out and then back. With two back wickets falling, there was pressure on the batting."

Babar Azam-led Pakistan suffered a close one-run defeat to Zimbabwe in their second Group 2 match in Perth on Thursday. This defeat to Pakistan has come after losing its first match against India (India vs Pakistan). A defeat against Zimbabwe will hurt Pakistan in the journey ahead. The Asian giants were expected to chase down an easy target of 131. But except Shan Masood (44 runs), none of his batsmen could live up to the occasion. Team's star Babar (4) and Mohammad Rizwan (14) failed yet again and Pakistan faltered.

He said, “The first six overs we are not making good use of the new ball. Afterwards we performed well. We will sit together and learn from our mistakes and come back strong in the next match." After winning the toss in the match, Zimbabwe went to bat first and scored 130 runs for eight wickets. Shan Masood scored 44 runs in 38 balls, but Pakistan lost in the end. He failed to score the three runs needed to win on the last ball of the match. Sikandar Raza was Zimbabwe's most successful bowler with 3/25, while Brad Evans took two for 25.
Sean Williams was the highest run-scorer for Zimbabwe with 31 off 28 balls. Some Zimbabwe batsmen started well but could not convert them into big scores. Mohammad Wasim was the most successful bowler for Pakistan, coming back with impressive figures of 4/24 in his four overs. Apart from this, leg-spinner Shadab Khan was also economical with the ball and gave 3/23 runs in his quota of four overs.
