Babar Azam-led Pakistan suffered a close one-run defeat to Zimbabwe in their second Group 2 match in Perth on Thursday. After winning the toss in the match, Zimbabwe went to bat first and scored 130 runs for eight wickets. Shan Masood scored 44 runs in 38 balls, but Pakistan lost in the end. He failed to score the three runs needed to win on the last ball of the match. Sikandar Raza was Zimbabwe's most successful bowler with 3/25, while Brad Evans took two for 25.

Sean Williams was the highest run-scorer for Zimbabwe with 31 off 28 balls. Some Zimbabwe batsmen started well but could not convert them into big scores. Mohammad Wasim was the most successful bowler for Pakistan, coming back with impressive figures of 4/24 in his four overs. Apart from this, leg-spinner Shadab Khan was also economical with the ball and gave 3/23 runs in his quota of four overs.
