Activist Teesta Setalvad detained by Gujarat ATS in Mumbai
The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has registered an FIR against Teesta Setalvad, former police officers RB Sreekumar and Sanjeev Bhatt and others on Saturday itself.

Social worker Teesta Setalvad has been taken into custody by Gujarat ATS in Mumbai. The team of Gujarat ATS came to Mumbai to take action against her.
This action against Setalvad has been taken at a time when the Supreme Court has dismissed Zakia Jafri's petition related to Gujarat riots 2002 and given a clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This move comes after the Supreme Court's remark, in which it has been questioned in the Gujarat riots case, saying that some people want to keep boiling the same news continuously. It is believed to be in reference to Teesta Setalvad's NGO, which has been working with the victims of the riots for a long time.
In the complaint of the Inspector of Crime Branch, it has been said that action has been taken with reference to the material and other materials found in this case, as well as as per the order of the Supreme Court. In this case, FIR should be registered to find out the criminal conspiracy hatched behind the scenes and abetment of various serious offenses with financial and other benefits, connivance of other persons, institutions and organizations.
Setalvad is the co-petitioner of the case in which the clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi was challenged in this case. However, this petition has been dismissed by the Supreme Court. Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, who was killed in the riots, his widow Zakia Jafri was the main petitioner. Gujarat ATS has cited the Supreme Court's decision to take Teesta into custody. In Friday's decision, the Supreme Court had raised questions on Zakia Jafri and others. In the name of the petition in 514 pages, Zakia was also indirectly questioning the decisions of the courts in the pending cases.
