Aamir Khan Pays Heartfelt Tribute as 3 Idiots Co-Star Achyut Potdar Dies at 91
Aamir Khan honored his 3 Idiots co-star Achyut Potdar in which he remembered Potdar as a great actor and a great person.

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan had offered an emotional tribute to the veteran actor Achyut Potdar who breathed his last on 18 August aged 91. In a heartfelt message, condoling the demise of his 3 Idiots co-star, Aamir wrote, in a post at his production house: Potdar was a wonderful person and an amazing actor.

Confirming the news of Achyut's death, Dr. Ravindra Ghawat, Director of the Critical Care Department at Jupiter Hospital, told PTI, “He was admitted to the hospital in a critical state with breathing and heart issues around 4 p.m. He was kept in the ICU. He passed away at 10:30 p.m. due to heart-related issues. He had high blood pressure and weak cardiovascular health.”

Soon after there was news of his death, Aamir, who had acted with Achyut in the movie 3 Idiots posted a tearful message expressing his grief on behalf of his production house. “I am very saddened to hear about Achyutji passing away. He was an amazing actor, a wonderful human being, and a great colleague. We will miss you, Achyutji. My heartfelt condolences to his family.”

Achyut Potdar is remembered in the Indian cinema as versatile and respectable on-screen. He has achieved great popularity, performing a harsh but fond college professor in 3 Idiots, with Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi. His sharply delivered line, “Kehna kya chahte ho, (What are you trying to say)” became a viral catchphrase and continues to be referenced in pop culture and memes.

Achyut amazingly ventured into the acting world, at 44 years old. Before moving to film career, he served in Indian Armed Forces and in Indian Oil Corporation. He used to teach in a college in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh and joined Indian army.
Achyut had a very long career in television in addition to his memorable career in film. He starred in TV programs including Wagle Ki Duniya, Majha Hoshil Na, Mrs. Tendulkar and Bharat Ki Khoj. His contribution to the Marathi films was also not behind, and he played big roles on several commercial as well as critically acclaimed movies.
