A viral video showed the test venue: Kanpur's Green Park Stadium facility came under a lot of fire during India's second Test against Bangladesh on Sunday, especially after Day 3 had to be abandoned due to a wet outfield when no rain had fallen.
Frustration gallops among the fans and cricket experts as they witnessed the most horrible drainage system when many expressed their doubts over whether the venue is fit for international cricket.

One fan's viral video captured the sentiment perfectly. “This stadium in Kanpur is so old, there’s no proper drainage system at all. It’s not even raining anymore. If it were any other ground, the covers would’ve been off by now, and the match would’ve started already."
"The ground's really bad, and I don’t think Kanpur will get more matches in the future with such poor facilities. (Itni ghatiya services hai yaha pe) It’s just terrible here,” he said, summing up the mood in the stands.

The match was already rainy on Day 1 and Day 2 was completely washed out due to wet outfield.
However, the decision to avoid playing on Day 3, where there was no rain, really left the crowd angry.
Several inspections by umpires of the field failed to make the outfield in a playable condition; another delay ensued.
The not-so-efficient drainage system in Green Park caught significant attention.

But in the present game of cricket, there must be a certainty of modern facilities such as efficient drainage systems to speed up the resumption of the match once the rain has abated.
The inescapable comparisons with stadiums that have better infrastructures created heated debates among the fans and pundits arguing that problems experienced at Kanpur ground would not have been possible in more advanced grounds.
Such is the plight that serious questions are now being raised if Kanpur is ready for any future international matches.
