The Andhra Pradesh government has launched its seaplane initiative on Saturday with the aim of making regional connectivity strong and promoting tourism in the region.

He said this while addressing a meeting after the launch of the demo flight at Punnami Ghat on the Krishna River in Vijayawada, "This is a new experiment (seaplane demo flight). I am very happy. If anything new happens in the country, it should happen in Amaravati. We are going ahead with that motto."

Later, the chief minister boarded the seaplane along with Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu and others and set off to the temple town. Seaplane services will be an innovative opportunity that will promote economic activities in order to create employment, said CM Naidu.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also come forward to give seaplane operations in the southern state, which does not require the cost-intensive infrastructure required for a regular airport.
With seaplane services, the state government is eyeing Andhra Pradesh take the lead position in India's water-based aviation sector.
The chief minister said innovative ideas will remove poverty and generate income, which would be used to fund welfare activities.

Earlier, Ram Mohan Naidu said that a new chapter is being opened in Andhra Pradesh, adding that seaplane operations will not only change the future of the state but also India.
Though seaplane operations were tried earlier, the aviation minister noted that they did not take off due to Covid and other reasons and highlighted that CM Naidu suggested the potential of seaplanes.
According to a union minister, the PM also wants seaplane services. That they were tried earlier in Gujarat.
Rammohan Naidu earlier spoke to mediapersons, announcing that seaplane services will be opened to the public in three to four months and affordable fares would be determined after a proper study.
Responding to another question, he said that two routes from Prakasam Barrage to Srisailam and Prakasam Barrage to Shamshabad Airport will shortly be operated.
