Former Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu has today filed her nomination for the President's post on behalf of the NDA. Apart from PM Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, leaders of Biju Janata Dal and YSR Congress were also present on this occasion. Draupadi Murmu filed her nomination in 4 sets.
PM Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, JP Nadda, Lalan Singh, Pashupati Paras, Renu Devi and Tarkishore Prasad were the proposers for Draupadi Murmu's presidential candidacy. Before filing his nomination, Murmu paid tributes at the statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Ambedkar and Birsa Munda in Parliament. June 29 is the last date for filing nominations.
Draupadi Murmu on Friday called up key opposition leaders including Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Nationalist Congress Party's Sharad Pawar and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. As per reports, he personally spoke to everyone and sought their support before the nomination. Recently, all three big leaders extended their best wishes to him.
Earlier on Thursday, Draupadi Murmu met PM Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Shah and BJP President JP Nadda. After this, the nomination paper was signed at the house of Union Minister Prahlad Joshi as a proposer and supporter for the nomination of the presidential candidate.
