8 Arrested in Brutal Killing of Hindu Activist Suhas Shetty in Mangaluru: Eight have been arrested regarding the gory murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty, Karnataka home minister G Parameshwara informed on Saturday.
The announcement was made following a high-level meeting by G Parameshwara with Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal, experience deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan, and other senior officials of the police service regarding assessing the current law and order situation.

Being rowdy sheeter by reputation and also the prime accused in the Fazil murder case, Suhas Shetty was murdered with hacking by unknown assailants on Thursday. It happened while he was attacked at 8:30 pm by armed men in Bajpe police station limits in Mangaluru's Kinnipadavu village.
As Shetty was traveling with five other passengers in his vehicle, the five to six people intercepted Shetty's vehicle. The incident, captured in CCTV footage, showed how five assailants struck Shetty using machetes and swords. As per Mangaluru police, he was admitted to AJ Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.
During the investigation, the detectives seized three vehicles associated with the murder and reportedly recovered weapons from the car.
As per police sources cited by PTI, Shetty was targeted in some social media postings even before the attack on him. An Instagram page titled "Target Killer," which has since been deactivated, had uploaded threats and some more along with pictures of Shetty and other people previously found to be murder accused.
BJP demands NIA probe
The BJP called for NIA prob of the killing. The party’s State Secretary and MP of Dakshina Kannada Brijesh Chowta reportedly, in a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanded to hand over the probe for the murder of Suhas Shetty to NIA.
Suhas Shetty was cremated in Bantwal on Saturday, and many Hindu activists joined the ranks of commoners and BJP leaders.

VHP’s bandh call
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) called for a bandh on Friday because of the murder of Suhas Shetty; hence, all the shops were closed not only in Mangaluru city but also in several surrounding areas.
In certain sensitive areas of the city, the police instructed shopkeepers to close down as a precaution. The KSRTC also suspended the bus service to the suburban areas after two of its buses were pelted with stones in Pumpwell and Kankanady. Officials also stated that there were some attacks on private buses near Mulky and Nanthoor, which have also suspended their services.
Ministers reviewed the security situation and appealed for peace, assuring that "strict action would be taken against those responsible for the violence and disruption".
