75 mighty Tirangas to don upon Delhi's sky to celebrate 75 years of Indian independence: CM Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal plans to convert the national capital into a city of National flags. Now, 75 mighty Tirangas will don upon the skies of Delhi to celebrate 75 years of Indian independence. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal unfurled 75 Tirangas placed at a height of 115 feet all over Delhi.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister stated, “We have installed the Tiranga at a height of 115 feet at 75 places in Delhi to pay homage to our freedom fighters. Our goal is to ensure that whenever someone steps out of their house they see a Tiranga in every direction they look. Seeing the Tiranga fly high with pride instils a stronger sense of Deshbhakti in everyone.”

“Delhi is perhaps the only city in the world to have installed their national flag at such a large scale. We are examining our achievement, hopefully, we have secured a record in the Guinness Book of World Records. I hope and pray that our mighty Tiranga will continue to fly higher and higher, and our country continues to prosper forever and ever,” he said.

PWD Minister Satyendar Jain said that most flags have been installed at roads under the PWD to overcome challenges posed at roads owned by DDA, MCD and NDMC.

Chief Minister Kejriwal also took part in a ceremony held in Timarpur to mark the grand occasion as its chief guest. He was accompanied by PWD Minister Satyendar Jain along with local MLA Dilip Pandey. The ceremony saw the Chief Minister unfurl the national flag on a 115 feet tall mast with full honours.

The event was flanked by the Delhi Home Guard Battalion which added a strong patriotic fervour to the environment through its ceremonial salutes and guard of honour. As CM Kejriwal unfurled the magnificent national flag through a remote control at Timarpur, the remaining 74 were also hoisted across Delhi.

Kejriwal said, “Our motive is that finally in the first phase, these national flags will be hoisted at 500 different locations. Our target was to achieve this goal by 26th January, but because there was a ban on construction activities due to pollution and the third COVID wave, it will now take place over the next few months. And the Tiranga will fly high with pride at 500 different locations in the near future. Our objective is that whenever someone steps out of their homes in Delhi to go to work, they spot the Tiranga at least 2-3 times on their way.”
