An AFP reporter living in Yilan said the shaking appeared to last around 30 seconds. "The walls of the house were shaking, both sideways and top to bottom, it seemed quite strong," the reporter said.
Neighborhood has not suffered any damage. The main earthquake was followed by a 5.4 magnitude aftershock, and Taipei's MRT metro system was shut down as a precautionary measure for just under an hour before service resumed.
