5000 MW Solar Power Project Proposed by SJVN in Punjab
Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Mann assured to provide all possible assistance in the development of solar projects. On this occasion Shri Sherry Kalsi, MLA Batala, Shri A. Of. Singh, Director (Finance), Shri S. Ale. Sharma, CEO (SGEL) and senior officials of Punjab Government and SJVN were also present.

Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN met the Chief Minister of Punjab, Shri Bhagwant Mann in Chandigarh and expressed keen interest in developing 5000 MW renewable energy projects in the state. Shri Sharma requested the Chief Minister that SJVN intends to develop 5000 MW renewable energy projects through solar projects, canal top solar projects and floating solar projects in the state through joint venture formation, MoU etc.

Singh, Director (Finance), Shri S. Ale. Sharma, CEO (SGEL) and senior officials of Punjab Government and SJVN were also present.
On the occasion, Shri Nand Lal Sharma made a detailed presentation and apprised that the Trans-National Company SJVN has 42,000 MW capacity projects, which includes a strong portfolio of renewable projects. Shri Sharma said “SJVN has prepared a roadmap for the development of renewable energy to meet the increasing power demand as a result of various developmental activities in the state of Punjab. SJVN is poised to be a strategic partner in this growth story of Punjab by harnessing green energy”.
Shri Nand Lal Sharma also informed that SJVN is already executing 100 MW Solar Power Project in Punjab and for this a PPA was signed with PSPCL on 23.06.2022. This project to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 545 crores, in the first year 245.28 MU. while the cumulative power generation over a period of 25 years is estimated to be around 5643.52 MU.
