33 Gujaratis Among 104 Indians Deported from US, Sent Home in Govt Vehicles

Indians Deported from US: A plane carrying 33 persons from Gujarat, who were among 104 Indians deported from the United States for illegal immigration, landed at Ahmedabad airport from Amritsar on Thursday (February 6, 2025) morning, officials said.
The 33 immigrants from Gujarat included 13 people from Gandhinagar, 10 from Mehsana, four from Patan district, and one each from Ahmedabad city, Ahmedabad rural, Vadodara rural, Petlad in Anand district, Ankleshwar in Bharuch district and Juna Deesa in Banaskantha.
Following the deportation, chief minister Bhupendra Patel and minister of state for home Harsh Sanghavi instructed senior officials to coordinate with other agencies and ensure security for the deportees, according to an official release by the state.

As directed by Gujarat Director General of Police Vikas Sahay, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) rank officer of the state police was deployed at the Amritsar airport to ensure security and proper coordination of 33 natives of Gujarat, the release said.
“After completing all necessary procedures of verification and immigration clearance at the Amritsar airport, these 33 persons landed at Ahmedabad airport at 6.10 am on Thursday,” the release added.
At the Ahmedabad airport, a nodal officer was deployed by the police to oversee the transportation of these deportees. Soon after their arrival, the 33 immigrants were safely transported to their native places in government vehicles under the supervision of police, the release said.

At 8.09 am, the process ended in high drama as the police attempted to escort some deportees through a side door, leading to a rush there. Then, the police brought out the final batch of deportees, 6-10 people, all from Mehsana from the Gate-6 arrival door and directly into the waiting vans, which then drove off to North Gujarat.
The deportees were among the 104 deported Indians who were in a United States military aircraft that landed in Punjab’s Amritsar on Wednesday. They were the first batch of illegal Indian immigrants deported from the US under the Trump 2.0 administration.
