Reservation will be applicable from this session. Doctors have expressed happiness over this decision of the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court has allowed NEET-PG counseling with reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The court upheld the OBC reservation in NEET-PG admission and said that it is necessary to start counseling immediately. For the current session, the court has allowed counseling in the EWS category while maintaining the standard of income of eight lakhs per annum. The Supreme Court fixed March as the date for further debate on the 8 lakh criteria in EWS. Let us understand what is the meaning of this decision of the Supreme Court.
The court said that the counseling for NEET PG 2021 and NEET UG 2021 will be held on the same basis as mentioned in the notice dated July 29, 2021. That is, 27% reservation for OBC category and 10% reservation for EWS category candidates will continue. The scale of EWS will be the same as mentioned in the Office Memorandum of 2019. This decision of SC has brought relief to thousands of candidates looking for admission. NEET-PG counseling 2021 has been postponed several times since November 27. Due to this the admission of new batch of resident doctors in medical colleges was stuck.
