An Indian student Charanpreet Singh, 23, was brutally beaten and left unconscious on the street in Adelaide after a group of men allegedly hurled racist abuse and attacked him over a car parking issue.

23-Year-Old Indian Student Brutally Assaulted in Adelaide: An Indian student Charanpreet Singh, 23, was brutally beaten and left unconscious on the street in Adelaide after a group of men allegedly hurled racist abuse and attacked him over a car parking issue.
According to The Australia Today, the incident happened near Kintore Avenue when the man, Charanpreet Singh, was out with his wife in their car to see the city’s lights at around 9.22pm on Saturday. The victim was a student, the report said.
Mr Singh said a group of men approached him, called him racist names and physically attacked him without any provocation. "They just said 'f--- off, Indian', and after that they just started punching," 9News quoted him as saying. "I tried to fight back, but they beat me until I was unconscious," he added.

Eyewitnesses and viral video footage shared on social media show the brutal assault and the attackers running away. Singh’s wife managed to film the aftermath and captured the registration number of the attackers’ car.
The victim’s friends and community members are outraged at the police inaction. One of the victim’s friend told The Indian Sun that police took initial statements but asked Singh to come back later to give a formal statement when he feels better without telling him if charges will be pressed.
South Australia Police confirmed that officers were called to the scene shortly before 9:30 pm. “When police arrived, they located the 22-year-old victim on the floor with facial injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment. Investigations are continuing,” a spokesperson told The Indian Sun.

A 20-year-old from Enfield was arrested on Sunday and charged with assault occasioning harm. Police are looking into the involvement of other people who fled the scene before police arrived, 9NEWS reported.
“Things like this, when they happen, it makes you feel like you should go back. You can change anything in your body, but you can’t change the colours,” 9NEWS quoted Singh as saying.
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas was quoted as stating: “Any time we see any evidence of any racial attack, it is completely unwelcome in our state and just not consistent with where the majority of our community are at.”
Police are still investigating the case and reviewing CCTV footage in the area.
