Taking a decision in a meeting late on Tuesday, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has announced the closure of all schools from January 6 to January 14, up to class 10. The number of active Covid cases in the state has crossed the 3,000 mark.
According to a government spokesperson, in any district where the number of active cases crosses 1,000, additional restrictions will also be imposed. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took this decision in a late night meeting with Team 9, a group of top officials.
A government spokesperson said that all government and private schools up to class 10 will remain closed till January 14. Currently, there is no district where active cases exceed 1,000, but as soon as it happens, gyms, spas, cinema halls, banquet halls, restaurants and other public places can be operated with 50 per cent capacity.
From January 6, no more than 100 people will be allowed in any event, including weddings, if they are held in a closed hall or room, with open spaces not exceeding 50 per cent of the ground capacity. The use of masks and sanitizers has been made mandatory.
