21 child laborers rescued from factory in Delhi, BBA team attacked during campaign

Activists of 'Bachpan Bachao Andolan' with the help of police and other organizations rescued 21 child laborers from a factory in Delhi Cantt late on Tuesday night. Of these, 13 are boys and eight are girls. Their age ranges from eight to 17 years. During the campaign, the Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) team was also attacked by the factory owner and his men and the windows of the vehicles were broken. Also, when the rescued girls were being taken to Nirmal Chhaya Ashram, the attackers also tried to snatch them. However they failed.

This action was taken in a factory located at SDM, Delhi Cantt (Narayana). Bag sewing was done here. All these children were brought from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. After the medical examination of the children, they were presented before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). From where the boys were sent to Mukti Ashram and the girls were sent to Nirmal Chhaya Ashram.

The police have sealed a total of six factories of the said factory owner. BBA Director Manish Sharma said, “It is our endeavor that such factories should be raided continuously so that minor children can get freedom from child labour. At the same time, we are also taking the attack during the campaign seriously and will also consider legal action if required. The BBA Director hoped that the Central Government will get the Anti-Trafficking Bill passed soon in the coming session of Parliament.
