NCB Deputy Director General (Operations) Singh said that the accused tried to escape by jumping into the sea and also tried to throw the consignment into the water. Although the ship was seized and brought to Mattancherry on Thursday itself, officials did not give any details ahead of the press conference organized by Singh today.

As part of a joint operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Indian Navy, an Iranian fishing vessel with around 200 kg of heroin worth over Rs 1,200 crore has been seized. NCB gave this information on Friday. NCB Deputy Director General (Operations) Sanjay Kumar Singh told reporters here that the agency has also arrested six Iranian nationals and the ship along with heroin was brought to Mattancherry dock here. Singh said, "NCB has now seized the ship and 200 kg of heroin. Six Iranian crew members have also been arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, 1985." He said the heroin was found in 200 packets, each carrying unique identities related to drug cartels based in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The NCB said, "Although some packets had 'Scorpion' seals, others had 'Dragon' seals. The narcotic was packaged in a waterproof, seven-layer packing. Preliminary investigation revealed that the confiscated heroin had originated from Afghanistan and was being taken to Pakistan. It was loaded into the sea in a confiscated vessel." And efforts were made to stop him, but it could not be found.
