10-Year-Old Punjab Girl Dies After Eating Online-Ordered Birthday Cake, Raising Concerns About Food Safety in India

10-Year-Old Punjab Girl Dies After Eating Online-Ordered Birthday Cake: A person building a community to help people improve their lifestyles said food safety in India is a joke after a ten-year-old girl in Punjab's Patiala died of suspected food poisoning after eating her birthday cake that she ordered online. According to him, 20 different "restaurants" are listed as cloud kitchens over food delivery apps in 1RK.
In the evening after celebrating her birthday and eating the cake ordered online, Manvi and her sister became ill. A video of the birthday celebrations showed her family feeding her the cake.
At around 3 am, Manvi's grandfather said the children began vomiting and were taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead. Her younger sister, she said, may have survived because she vomited.
"You have no idea how many mice and cockroaches were around the food you just ordered, and you have no idea if the cooked dal or rice you ordered was expired," said Chirag Barjatya, who is building the PFC Club. "And street food is as unhygienic. Unhygienic not only due to bad hygiene practices but also because of the dust and the pollutants around. Them wearing gloves and serving you a pani puri makes no difference."
"And the food inspection authorities? You know how easy it is here to get licensing and approval through ₹," he said, adding that he does not know what is the solution. "Strict non-corrupt food inspection? Impossible. I also don't want these street vendors or cloud kitchens to go out of business because of such tweets. But we live in a low-trust society and when you are putting something in your mouth by trusting some unknown supplier, think twice."
It is alleged that the chocolate cake ordered from 'Cake Kanha' contained some poisonous substance.
There has been a first information report filed against the bakery owner. "A postmortem has been conducted. A sample of the cake has also been sent for testing," they said.
