1 crore will have to be given to the Corona victim's family : High Court

Directed to pay ex-gratia amount of one crore rupees to the next of kin of Delhi Police constable for death due to Corona pandemic, saying that the Delhi government should not back down from the clear announcement made for payment of ex-gratia amount. Justice Pratiba M Singh's bench, while hearing the petition of the deceased's wife, said that it is clear from the clipping of the press conference with the officials that the Delhi government had announced an ex-gratia of Rs one crore to the next of kin of the deceased.

The Delhi government said that in such a situation it can be sent after considering it. On this, the bench said that under the cabinet decision of 13 March 2020, the matter should be placed before the ministers. Along with this, it was also directed that the record related to the decision taken by the officers should be presented on January 15.
In the petition, the wife of the deceased said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal referred to the tweet made on May 7, 2020, regarding the death of her husband. In which the Chief Minister had announced to give one crore rupees to the relatives of the deceased. He said that since then she has been wandering here and there for ex-gratia.
