Suicide Attack in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Kills 10 TTP Militants, Follows Deadly Train Siege

Suicide Attack in Pakistan: A suicide bomb blast and terrorist attack struck Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan Thursday, coming just a few days following the train hijack by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). An attempted assault against the Jandola checkpost near a Frontier Corps camp in South Waziristan resulted in the death of 10 Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) insurgents.

An explosives-laden vehicle was blown up near the camp by a suicide bomber prior to the security forces deploying to engage the assailants, as the ensuing encounter resulted in the elimination of 10 TTP militants. Mohsin Naqvi reconfirmed that the national commitment to terrorism elimination has remained unabated.

This attack comes just after 33 BLA terrorists were killed after the hijacking of the Jaffar Express, which resulted to the death of 21 passengers and 4 paramilitary personnel.

According to the Global Terrorism Index 2025, Pakistan had 1,081 terror attacks in 2024, with an increase of 45% over the 748 accounted for in 2023. Pakistan now ranks at 2nd place globally according to deaths from terrorism and has moved from 4th place last year. Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwan accounted for 96% of terrorism attacks in Pakistan, and both areas are adjacent to Afghanistan, making the security situation worse.

On TTP and BLA insurgency rise, security forces in Pakistan confront the most difficult battle concerning stabilizing the conflict-sensitive western provinces of its territory. The Afghanistan-Pakistan nexus continues to regulate the future of militancy in this region.
