New Delhi: Indian cricket team has a wonderful chance to win the first Test match on the England Tour of 2021 at Nottingham. On Saturday, riding on skipper Joe Root’s brilliant century, England scored 303 runs in their second innings, setting India a target of 209 on day four of the opening Test.
At stumps India were 52 for 1, needing 157 more runs to win tomorrow on the last day of the Test match. Opener Rohit Sharma (12) and Cheteshwar Pujara (12) were at the crease. India lost the wicket of opening batsman K L Rahul (26).
Earlier, Joe Root (109) led from the front to score his 21st hundred. For India, Jasprit Bumrah picked up a five-wicket haul. There will be an interesting battle on the cards on the fifth and final day as India needs 157 runs and England have to take nine wickets and both results possible. If rain and bad light will come into play, the draw is also a possibility.
