The death toll will likely rise as rescue teams search through the rubble of six buildings. After the initial explosion Israel hit additional areas in the south suburbs.

The site hit on Friday evening had not been publicly identified as Hezbollah’s main headquarters but is in the group’s “security quarters” a heavily fortified area of Haret Hreik that houses its offices and several nearby hospitals.
Hours after the strike Hezbollah had not released any statement on the matter. Instead it said it had fired a barrage of rockets at the Israeli city of Safed, “in defense of Lebanon and its people and in response to the brutal Israeli aggression on cities, villages and civilians.”
