Will Amit Shah's visit to Jammu and Kashmir change anything?
This is Ishfaq Mir, a businessman in Srinagar. Ishfaq says, "Our staff has come down from 100 to eight. (But) we try to keep alive what we started with." Ishfaq founded the e-commerce site Kashmir Box in the year 2011. His dream was to make handicrafts of Kashmir in the country and the world on the lines of Amazon, to give a special place to the carpet industry, to promote local brands.
But the ongoing violence in the Valley, the floods of 2014, the death of extremist Burhan Wani in 2016, and the unrest following the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, forced Ishfaq to limit the Kashmir box to a prolonged internet shutdown.
