The deceased has been identified as Amar Kumar Rao who was working as a porter at the station under Sonpur Railway Division.
Rao was on duty on platform 5 of Barauni Junction when Lucknow-Barauni Express (No: 15204) arrived from Lucknow Junction. According to railway sources, Rao was trying to open the coupling of the train when the train suddenly reversed and he got trapped between the coaches.
After the bystanders raised an alarm, the train driver reportedly got out of the train and ran away without reversing the engine or doing anything to stop the accident. Rao was crushed by the moving engine and died on the spot.

Three coaches of 22850 Secunderabad-Shalimar SF Express, one parcel van and two passenger coaches, derailed near Nalpur Station in South Eastern Railway division in Howrah, said CPRO of South-Eastern Railway.
No casualties so far, said South Eastern Railway’s CPRO.
According to latest update, train services have resumed on UP Main Line near Nalpur station. Down line is still under repair.
The 22850 Secunderabad – Shalimar Weekly Express was running through Nalpur station in Kharagpur Division when the coaches derailed, officials said.
On October 31, four empty wagons of a freight train derailed in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district. The accident occurred at 3.45 pm at Narayanpur Anant station in Sonpur division of East Central Railway during shunting.
