Uttar Pradesh News : BJP worker arrested for assaulting woman in Bareilly

A BJP worker was arrested on Sunday for assaulting a woman. He has been identified as Jitendra Rastogi, a resident of Khwaja Qutb in Biharipur. City ASP Ravindra Kumar said that on July 31, a woman named Anuradha Rastogi had lodged an FIR against Jitendra Rastogi at the city police station.

Accused Jitendra Rastogi has been on the post of state general secretary in Uttar Pradesh Udyog Vyapar Mandal, an organization of traders. He was removed from the post by the national president of the organization, MP Naresh Agarwal. BJP city president M Arora said that Jitendra Rastogi is a BJP worker but he is not holding any post in the party.

Earlier in a shocking video that went viral on the internet, a man was seen assaulting and allegedly misbehaving with a woman and her daughter. On the basis of the FIR, Uttar Pradesh Police on Saturday registered a case against unknown persons under sections 147 (rioting), 323 (willful causing hurt), and 504 (intentional insult) of the IPC in Kotwali police station area of ​​Bareilly.

The victim woman has alleged that UP BJP leader Jitendra Rastogi misbehaved and abused her and her daughter. However, Bareilly Senior Superintendent of Police Satyarth Anirudh Pankaj had said that, "The person seen in the video is not Jitendra Rastogi".

The complainant woman said that when she was getting the drain of her house cleaned after the rain, Rastogi along with his wife and some other people surrounded her and abused her. He said, "When asked about the reasons, they (Rastogi's aides) beat me up and then his son beat up my daughter. With the intention of killing her... he dragged my three-year-old daughter by the hair and pushed her into a pit full of mud. Others including his wife were watching him."

The complainant woman has demanded the arrest of Rastogi. She has said that she is facing threat to her life from Jitendra Rastogi as she is surrounded by them and they do not have good relations with her. "I had lodged an FIR on July 31 and till date no action has been taken in the matter. One of my neighbors is my son's killer and the other is Rastogi," he said.
