UP road accident: PM Modi and CM Yogi expressed condolences on the death of 22 people

At least 22 people were killed and several others injured when a tractor trolley overturned in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the accident. PM Modi has also announced a compensation of ₹ 2 lakh for the families of those killed.

PM Modi said in a tweet, "Distressed by the tractor-trolley accident in Kanpur. My condolences are with all those who have lost their loved ones. The local administration is providing all possible help to the affected. The kin of each of the deceased An ex-gratia of ₹ 2 lakh will be paid from PMNRF. The injured will be given ₹ 50,000."

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that senior officials have been instructed to reach the spot immediately.

Yogi tweeted, "The road accident in Kanpur district is very heartbreaking. District Magistrate and other senior officers have been directed to reach the spot immediately and carry out relief and rescue operations on war footing and make arrangements for proper treatment of the injured."

Home Minister Amit Shah said, "The road accident in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh is extremely sad and heart-wrenching. The local administration is busy providing treatment to the injured. This irreparable loss to those who lost their loved ones in this incident but I express my condolences. May God give strength to his family to bear this loss."
