UP: In Kanpur, two coaching teachers arrested for raping and extorting a Young NEET Aspirant

UP: A minor who had come to Kanpur to prepare for her NEET medical entrance exam was allegedly raped and blackmailed for months by two teachers of a popular coaching centre in the city. One of the teachers was arrested a few months ago after a CCTV footage of him allegedly sexually harassing another student went viral and this gave the survivor the courage to file a complaint. Both the teachers have been arrested.

A police official said the student had come to Kanpur in 2022 to prepare for the exam and had joined a coaching centre there. In January this year, her biology teacher Sahil Siddiqui, 32, invited her to a party at his home which he said was for all students. When the girl reached his flat, however, she found herself alone. She alleged that Siddiqui got her drunk, raped her and filmed the act.

Siddiqui threatened to make the video public and kill her family and raped her multiple times. He kept her hostage at his flat for some time and then forced her to attend parties there. It was during one such party that she was raped by her 39-year-old chemistry teacher Vikas Porwal. She was a minor then.

The student said she had gone to her parents’ place around Holi and Siddiqui had called her and asked her to come back and threatened to harm her family if she didn’t.

FIR was registered on Friday and both Siddiqui and Porwal were arrested the same night.

The victim had alleged that Siddiqui got her drunk, raped her and filmed the act. She told the police that Siddiqui had threatened to make the video public and kill her family. The girl also alleged that he had raped her multiple times on other occasions by blackmailing her, the report said.

She was also held hostage at Siddiqui’s flat for some time and was forced to attend parties there. During one such party, she was raped by another teacher 39-year-old Vikas Porwal who taught her Chemistry. She was a minor then.

Siddiqui had also called her and asked her to come back to Kanpur when she had gone to her parents’ place around Holi, threatening to harm her family if she didn’t.

A video of Siddiqui allegedly sexually harassing another student had gone viral recently. But he was released on bail. Seeing this, the victim mustered the courage to file a complaint against him on Thursday, November 7.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhishek Pandey said, "The student told us she was raped by the accused on separate occasions. A case has been registered and the two men have been arrested and are being questioned. The student was a minor at the time and has requested us not to share too many details."
