Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi will be the Vice Presidential candidate
According to Mukhtar's closeness, the party can make him a candidate for the Vice Presidential election.
After the announcement of the BJP candidate for the Lok Sabha by-election, the question is now arising that what will be the political future of Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. Will he be given any other responsibility instead of the cabinet?
BJP has fielded Ghanshyam Lodhi as its candidate for Rampur by-election. Till now it was believed that Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who was denied ticket in Rajya Sabha, could also be fielded in Rampur. Naqvi, however, denied this. Naqvi was assuming that the Lok Sabha elections would be announced only after two and a half years, so he did not want to enter the field for such a short time.
Political analysts believe that if he had lost in the by-elections for any reason, his political future would have been questioned. That's why he didn't want to take any risk. Now when his term for Rajya Sabha ends soon in July, what will be his political path ahead. If he is not a member of either house then he will not be able to stay in the cabinet for more than six months.
In this way he will be promoted as the minority face of BJP. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has been a Rajya Sabha member three times. He also contested the Lok Sabha elections thrice in 1998, 1999 and 2009 but won only in the first of these elections. Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government was at the center at that time. Giving him the reward of victory, he was made the Minister of Information and Broadcasting at the Center.
